48 goals in the Premier Division, a record for this season at least

Despite the rain that dogged Saturday afternoon, only two CCL matches were actually postponed on Saturday but three others were abandoned. Doubtless there would have been mixed views at Spelthorne Sports, who were leading by three goals to nil, when the referee decided to abandon proceedings at 71 minutes. The other abandonments came at Ash United and Farnham Town.

The notable feature in the Premier Division is that no less than 48 goals were scored in the nine matches that reached their conclusion, certainly a record for this season.

Cobham contributed seven of them without response from CB, including two from 16 year old Joey Brian on his debut. Two other clubs scored six, namely Chertsey who overwhelmed Walton & Hersham 6-0 and Colliers Wood who won 6-2 at home to Badshot Lea, another entirely unpredictable result. The damage was done in the first half with Colliers turning round five to the good. Sutton Common Rovers maintained their challenge with a 5-2 win awat at Horley Town.

It was a different story in Division One, with two matches suffering postponements and two others abandoned, at Ash (v. Godalming) and Farnham Town (v. Cove). The Management Committee will now consider all abandoned matches.
