Egham Manager Departs after 1-6 Home Defeat. Ex-Uxbridge manager Tony Choules takes over.

Egham Town boss Carl Palmer and his assistant Leyton Brooks paid the price after Saturday’s 1-6 home loss to Balham dropped the Sarnies to bottom place in the Combined Counties Premier Division.

Palmer took over the reins towards the end of last season’s disastrous campaign, giving them some semblance of respectability as they plummeted out of Isthmian Central.

Chairman Pat Bennett has replaced Palmer with former Uxbridge manager Tony Choules (pictured) who will join the Runnymede Stadium club with Paul Mills as his assistant and Damian Payne as coach.

Choules was in charge at Honeycroft from 2006 to the tail end of last season. His record shows steady results at Step 4, the level from which Egham dropped last season. With two promotion places up for grabs this season the Sarnies will be hoping for an improvement in results after a zero point haul from the first three games. The side did get past Lancing in the FA Cup after a thrilling replay and travel to Sussex again to face Horsham YMCA of the Southern Combination on Saturday.

Egham Town thank Carl and Leyton for their unstinting efforts for the club and wish them all the best for the future.
