Good Day in the Vase

By Admin ccl

17 go through at first attempt, with 3 replays to come and three clubs still exempted

It was the FA Vase that took most of the attention over last weekend and the CCL emerged with 24 clubs still alive in the competition (plus, of course, those that have still to come in). Of the 24 mentioned eight of them are from Division One which was a good return and one more can be added to that figure with FC Deportivo Galicia now coming in, having received a bye.

Looking down the list, all wins are good but a special mention goes to AFC Hayes who beat Dunstable Town who were at Step 3 until recently by three goals to one.

The biggest win was achieved by Knaphill who knocked six past Storrington Community. Three of our clubs hit five goals, being Bedfont & Feltham who sent Lutterworth back to Leicester having lost 0-5, whilst Hanworth Villa overcame the challenge of Marston Shelton Rovers from the Bedfordshire County League by five goals to one.

It was not quite the same story for Raynes Park Vale who scored five but also conceded five to Lydd Town who will be making their way to Vale for Tuesday evening’s replay.

Two other CCL clubs are involved in replays, both on Tuesday, namely Ascot United making a second trip to Fleet Town, and Banstead Athletic who go to Greenwich Borough.

The draw for the 2nd Qualifying Round was already known and the matches will be played on Saturday 14 September or over that weekend.
