Chertsey and SCR keep winning

The two front runners in the Premier Division, Chertsey Town and SCR, both picked up maximum points again on Saturday but whilst SCR were beating Hanworth Villa 5-1, Chertsey needed a last gasp goal from the Division’s leading scorer Jake Baxter to ensure all three points.

Banstead maintained 3rd spot, again with a solitary goal win, this time over CB Hounslow at Merland Rise.

At the other end of the table, Walton & Hersham, now under the management of Perry Gough and George Busumbru, scored two but visitors Knaphill hit four to take all three points, leaving Walton now four points adrift of the second relegation spot, held by Raynes Park Vale who slipped at Badshot Lea, 1-2, the latter having now eased themselves further away from the possibility of relegation following much improved results generally under new manager Gavin Smith.

It is a real dog fight in Division One, with both Bedfont & Feltham and Epsom & Ewell hitting seven goals, both winning 7-1 against Fleet Spurs and Bagshot respectively. The win enabled Bedfont & Feltham to reclaim top spot on goal difference from Frimley Green who lost a league match for the first time since 3 November, the victors this time being Sheerwater by the only goal of the match.

Down at the bottom, where it looks as if two clubs will be relegated into Step 7 at the end of the season, Cove helped their fight with a 2-2 draw at Eversley & California and are now just one point below Fleet Spurs who, as mentioned above, sustained a heavy defeat.
