U21 Cup Final completed Eversley Lose at sf stage in Aldershot Cup

The inaugural John Bennett U21 Development Division Cup Final was held on Tuesday evening at Cobham FC, who were excellent hosts, and the match was won by AFC Croydon Athletic by 2 goals to 1 against Sutton Common Rovers.

The first half saw plenty of good fast football but the flowing football was littered with fouls breaking play up and in the second half, frankly there was a lack of discipline on show from too many players, culminating in a regrettable incident when unauthorised people entered the playing field. It took a considerable time to restore order, not helped by the obscenities emanating from some spectators.

Three players were sent off overall, including one in the first half whilst AFC won the match by scoring twice. despite at the time being a man short. SCR pulled one back halfway through the second period but could not manage an equaliser. So so easy to blame the officials but more than one person present last night needs to ask themselves if they conducted themselves properly.

This was not a match that will be remembered with great affection.

On to other matters and Eversley & California, after losing the Div One Cup Final on Saturday, saw their excellent run in the Aldershot Senior Cup come to an end as they went out at the semi-final stage losing to the British Army by 5 goals to nil. An intriguing final awaits between the Army and Hartley Wintney, who as everyone will be aware, have won promotion to Step 3 at the first time of asking.

We're inching towards the end of a difficult season and there was just one league match last night which saw Chessington & Hook defeating Bedfont & Feltham by 3 goals to 1.

Don't forget we have the Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup Final on Saturday at Bedfont Sports between Worcester Park and Knaphill. Kick-off is 3.00 p.m.
