League Championships confirmed for Westfield and Worcester Park

There had been little doubt about it for some weeks but Westfield are now crowned league champions for season 2017-2018. They are worthy champions and we wish them well next season at Step 4, joining a number of ex-CCL clubs at that level. Chairman Chris Conlon was on hand on Saturday to witness League President Ken Huckle hand over the Championship Trophy, following their 1-1 draw with 2nd placed Bedfont Sports.

Bedfont are fighting hard to go up with them in 2nd place and it is between them and Sutton Common Rovers who will make it. At the moment there are just two points between the clubs, with each having three matches left to play. Bedfont are away to AFC Hayes on Tuesday (24 April), at home to Walton & Hersham on Saturday (28 April) and wrap matters up with the short trip to CB Hounslow on Tuesday 1 May.

SCR go to Banstead on Thursday (26 April), and then go to Horley Town on Saturday (28 April) and. like Bedfont, play their final match on Tuesday 1 May, away to Balham.

In the meantime, Worcester Park duly clinched the Division One championship on Saturday with their 4-2 home win over Bedfont & Feltham, they will be presented with the trophy next Saturday. They are at home to AC London, but the match will be played at Ashford Town (Mx) FC, as cricket now takes priority at Worcester Park.
