Walton Close to a Move

New Walton Hub almost ready

The League accepted an invitation to join the FA earlier today at an inspection of the new Walton Hub which is intended for shared use between Walton Casuals and Walton & Hersham FC.

The new ground is almost complete and available for use and a Grade C is to be recommended to the FA's Technical Panel.

It does now seem likely that Walton & Hersham will have to leave their traditional ground at Stompond Lane and whilst the facilities at the new ground are second to none, there has to be some regret that one of England's most traditional and well known football grounds will be lost to housing.

Although to be finally confirmed, it looks as if the final W & H match at Stompond Lane will be on Saturday 23 September against AFC Hayes whilst their first one at the new facility will be Tuesday 3 October against Guildford City. Casuals are due to lay their first match at the stadium on Saturday 9 September against Horsham.

As is the wont these days, the new pitch is 3G which means that shortly there will be three clubs in the CCL playing their home matches on such a surface
