Premier Division

There was no change in the order of the top six clubs, although they had varying degrees of success on Saturday. Ascot United are top of the league after their 3-1 home win against Egham Town. Ian Davies scored two of their goals. Spelthorne beat Frimley Green 4-1 and remain one point behind the Yellamen. This was The Green’s first defeat since early November, which was also against Spelly. They are in sixth place, six points clear of the chasing pack.

Third-place Southall won 2-0 win at Knaphill, who are two places below. Daniel Campion scored three goals in ten second-half minutes as fourth-place Molesey beat Balham 4-0. Abbey Rangers moved up two places to seventh following their 3-0 victory last Monday at Sutton Common Rovers but didn’t have a game on Saturday.

At the other end of the table, CB Hounslow United remain in last place after a creditable 2-2 draw at Colliers Wood, who came back from 2-0 down with late goals from Ali Fofanah. Hanworth Villa’s game at Camberley Town was postponed and the Villains remain in 19th position, three points ahead of the Dragons. Sheerwater moved out of the bottom four with a 3-2 win against Banstead at Woking. A Danny Taylor hat-trick enabled them to come back from 2-0 down to record their first-ever win over the As, while Redhill defeated Guildford City 4-1 at The Spectrum.

Division 1

It’s Groundhog Day: Jersey Bulls continued their 100% run with another thumping victory. This time the victims were Chessington, who went down 0-6 to the champions-elect at Springfield Stadium. The only consolation for Chessy was that their plane managed to land first time in Jersey. Young striker Sol Solomon grabbed a hat-trick, surprisingly the first of the season for the Bulls. It was a good day for hat-tricks with two in Division 1 in addition to the two in the Premier Division. Bradley Brown went one better with four goals for Sandhurst.

However, six wasn’t the biggest winning margin of the day, as Sandhurst walloped Ash 8-0 at Shawfield Stadium. At the other extreme was the fixture at Farnham, who scored the only goal of the game against Eversley. The Town remain in second place, 21 points away from top place. Meanwhile the Boars remain at the foot of the table, but they’ve had a reasonably encouraging run with four draws, one win and only two defeats, each by one goal, in their last seven games.

Bedfont & Feltham and Tooting Bec remain third and fourth respectively, despite having their matches postponed. Sandhurst have leapfrogged Walton & Hersham and Fleet Spurs into fifth place, their victory having done their goal difference a power of good. There were four-goal wins for Fleet and Bagshot. Spurs overcame Walton & Hersham with three of their four goals coming from skipper Adam Bellmaine. They also overtook the Swans, who however have two games in hand. The Baggies scored five at British Airways. Epsom & Ewell continued their good run, winning at Deportivo by the odd goal in five, their winning goal from Taryn Smith coming in the 100th minute of the game. Godalming drew 2-2 with Dorking, recovering from 2-0 down with two late goals. They have now caught up Chessington on 15 points, though they’re still behind on goal difference. Both clubs are two points ahead of Eversley.
