Season Ends with 3 Finals

We have now had a short report from Balham FC following their triumph in the London Senior Cup Final. They beat Cray Valley PM from the Southern Combination East League in the Final by 4 goals to 1and here’s the summary in their own words:

“Balham FC, who have had a meteoric rise to date, gaining five promotions in six seasons, lifted the London Senior Cup on Wednesday May 9th. Having beaten AFC Wimbledon, Hendon and Dulwich Hamlet en route to the final, they beat the holders Cray Valley, who had put out Tooting & Mitcham Utd, in the semi finals, 4-1. The goals came from Ibrahim Olutade(2), Tomasz Wocial and James Gallagher.

Manager Greg Cruttwell said "It's fantastic. We've done some massive giant killing to get here tonight and to win such a prestigious competition is a dream come true."

There were two other finals last week involving CCL clubs one being on Thursday evening when Division One Staines Lammas defeated Premier side CB Hounslow by one goal to nil in an intriguing match played at Bedfont Sports. As the scoreline suggests, the match was even enough but once Lammas nudged ahead in the second half, they rarely looked as if they would squander it. The scorer of the Lammas goal was Bill Nutbeam.

The other Final was in the Grant-McLellan Youth Cup played at Camberley Town, who were one of the sides. The other was Abbey Rangers who came from a goal behind to win by 2 goals 1, scorers being James Fuller and Shaun Joash. We don’t have the name of the Camberley scorer.
