Good Performance in FA Vase

16 CCL clubs awaiting today's 1st Round Draw

The weekend proved fruitful for CCL clubs engaged in the Buildbase FA Vase over the weekend with 13 clubs winning through at the first attempt. With SCR and Walton & Hersham exempt until the 1st Round Proper that means we will have 15 clubs competing in the next round on Saturday 13 October and that number may rise to 16 if Spelthorne Sports can win their replay against United Counties League side Bugbrooke St. Michaels on Tuesday evening at Spelthorne after a 3-3 draw on Saturday.

This compares very well with last season when just nine clubs won in the 2nd Qualifying Round. Of the clubs through, five are from Division One, including Sheerwater who won at Chessington & Hook in what is their Vase debut this season, and Kensington Borough who overcame Northampton side, Northampton Sileby Rangers 4-2.

Possibly the most impressive performance came from Eversley & California who beat Wessex Premier side Lymington by two goals to one.

Badshot Lea’s win by four goals to one at Shrivenham was well deserved whilst Abbey will be hoping for a home tie after coming through two tough fixtures in Gloucestershire to reach this stage. Chertsey continued their good form with a last minute goal away at Tadley Calleva riding high in the Hellenic League. FC Deportivo Galicia belied their league form with a 5-0 win at Burton Park Rangers on Sunday.

We await the draw for the 1st Round later today.
