3rd Round Draw made - all CCL clubs drawn away

After an exciting weekend of FA Buildbase Vase football, the dust has settled to show that four CCL clubs have reached the 3rd Round of the competition, which will be played over he weekend of Saturday 1 December.

In alphabetical order, Abbey Rangers saw off Kent side Lordswood by five goals to nil. It was an excellent performance although the visitors did not help their cause by having two players sent off, although Abbey were well on their way before that happened. Abbey’s reward is an away trip to Eastbourne Town. They are midway in their league table.

League leaders Chertsey Town saw off the challenge of high flying Horndean, winning by two goals to nil and will now be away to Essex side Redbridge. They sit in 16th place in the Essex Senior League.

Southall, who have quite a pedigree in the Vase achieved the most dramatic victory scoring the only goal of the game against tough opponents in Chatham Town with just seconds to go in extra time. Southall have been drawn away to Canterbury Town in the 3rd Round. Canterbury are in mid-table in the Southern Counties East.

Finally SCR pulled off the biggest win seeing off fellow CCL side Horley Town by six goals to one on Friday evening. They will now be away to AFC Uckfield Town who apparently had four men dismissed in their tie against AFC Croydon but still managed to scrape home. Uckfield are in 12th place at present in the Southern Combination.

It is bad luck that all our four clubs have been drawn away but all look to be in with a realistic chance of making further progress.

The League’s unofficial policy is that clubs reaching the 3rd Round onwards can apply for any midweek matches in the week before to be postponed. Any such request will be given every consideration.
