Four though at first attempt

FA Cup - 1st Qualifying Round, 6 in the hat.

With 18 clubs competing, it was perhaps a little disappointing that only four CCL clubs made it through to the 1st Qualifying Round of the FA Cup, the draw for which will show here later today.

The four to get through at the first attempt were Banstead Athletic with a 6-3 victory over Loxwood, Godalming Town who beat fellow CCL side Farnham Town, 3-0, Guildford City, who on Sunday, enjoyed a 4-0 win against Camberley Town and Knaphill who travelled to Laverstock & Ford from the Wessex League and won 4-2.

They could be joined by two more who forced draws on Saturday, namely Colliers Wood United who played out a 1-1 draw at home to Shoreham, newly promoted to Step 4, and now face a trip down to the coast in the replay on Tuesday evening, and Walton & Hersham. The latter, also up against Step 4 opposition in the shape of Carshalton Athletic, did even better to secure a draw at their opponent’s ground on Saturday, leading to a reply on Tuesday at Stompond Lane.

In the League, Bedfont Sports took full advantage of the fact that their game was the only one taking place in the Premier Division as a 2-1 win over AFC Hayes was good enough to send them to the top of the table. Early runners in Division One are Eversley & California, whose three matches to date have yielded maximum points and 12 goals.
