Hanworth Villa play Knaphill at the Ranch

There is an intriguing CCL Premier Division match taking place this Friday evening, when Hanworth Villa will entertain Knaphill.

Both clubs, in 6th and 7th place respectively, are on 16 points although Villa have two matches in hand. A win tonight for either side would elevate them to 3rd place in the table. Villa suffered a set back last Saturday, losing at Ashford, but are unbeaten in the League other than that, and may start as slight favourites tonight by dint of being at home but Knaphill have already won twice on the road and will not prove easy opponents.

Knaphill were in action as recently as Wednesday evening when they lost narrowly 2-3 at Guildford City but the main concern was that Steve Brown suffered a broken leg. The League sends its best wishes to Steve for a quick recovery.

In a very sensible decision, this evening’s match which kicks off at 7.45 p.m. has been brought forward to avoid the rugby congestion on Saturday, with England playing just down the road in Twickenham.

There is a full programme of matches on Saturday, with league leaders Ashford visiting Westfield, whilst Windsor entertain Camberley Town in another intriguing clash. The “big” match though is in the FA Cup, with sole survivors Hartley Wintney making the 139 mile journey to play Southern League Premier Division side, Merthyr Town. The League’s best wishes go to Hartley and, given their form this season, who would bet against them pulling off a major upset.

There are two more RPM Records Division One clashes tomorrow, with Bedfont & Feltham entertaining Dorking Wanderers Reserves and Sheerwater at home to local rivals Staines Lammas. Top of the table CB Hounslow are back in action after a blank Saturday with a tough trip to Worcester Park.
