How Will it all End part 2

Prem Div relegation and Div One championship still to be resolved

As we head to the final Saturday of the season on 27 April, there are still some matters to be decided.

After yesterday’s results the second relegation spot in the Premier is still up for grabs although that’s hardly the right expression. Due to the remaining fixtures, Hanworth Villa are now safe following their win over Balham yesterday so it boils down now to three clubs, namely CB Hounslow, AFC Hayes and Balham. All three could still fill that second bottom place and it all depends upon next Saturday’s results, with Balham at home to CB Hounslow and AFC Hayes away to doomed Walton & Hersham.

The situation is more clear cut at the top of Division One. Following their narrow victory over Kensington Borough yesterday, Frimley just need to win away to Tooting Bec on Tuesday evening to finish top above Sheerwater. Any other result and Sheerwater will be the champions. It won’t be easy as Tooting have enjoyed an excellent season in their first year at this level and will certainly be out to avenge their recent cup defeat at the hands of Frimley.

The other result that took the eye yesterday was Abbey’s win by a solitary goal over Chertsey Town. It has been such a good season for the Curfews that nobody can probably remember when they last lost a league match. For the record it was a 1-4 defeat at the hands of Walton & Hersham, who sadly failed to build upon that result.

This week we have the first of our cup finals and this will be the John Bennett Under 23 Development Cup, in which Sutton Common Rovers will meet Cobham at South Park FC, kick-off 7.45 p.m. on Wednesday evening (24 April).
