Praise for Redhill v Fleet Spurs, Premier Challenge Cup

Take a bow gentlemen

A report from a referee of this nature is unusual, to say the least, but both Redhill and Fleet Spurs have been highly praised by their match referee, following Tuesday's encounter in the Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup.

Here is Mr. Mays' report:

Often only the bad things are reported by match officials from games, but I just had to send this e-mail to complement both teams on their superb exemplary behaviour in last night’s Premier Challenge Cup game. Not only were there no cautions, it would have been extremely difficult to “try and find one,” I can not ever remember a game where there was absolutely no dissent from either side or a need for me to even talk to any of the players about their behaviour.

Redhill won the game convincingly but did not resort to any “showboating” and Fleet Spurs competed throughout. Often with a one sided game the losing time will take their frustrations out on the opposition or match officials, but not last night.

My Assistant Referees and myself would like to thank both teams for an extremely enjoyable sporting game last night – both teams were a credit to the League.

Regards

Gareth Mays
