Last night, in an incredibly exciting finale, SCR became the first CCL club through to the 3rd Round of the FA Vase, beating Beckenham Town from the Southern Counties East by three goals to two, with both sides scoring in stoppage time.

Here is a brief summary from the SCR web site:

A late late Richie Smith goal took the first team through to the FA Vase 3rd Rd after a thrilling 3-2 win over Beckenham Town

The visitors struck first when a superb Jamie Turner free kick on 9 minutes put them ahead. Both sides wasted chances and Beckenham had one disallowed on the stroke of half time, but led 1-0 at the break.

Francois Gabbidon levelled the scores on 53 minutes, and Hamilton Antonio fired SCR ahead on the hour.

Richie Monan was dismissed with just over 15 minutes remaining but despite a lot of pressure it looked as though SCR would hold out. Liam Holden hit the crossbar three minutes into injury time, but disaster struck five minutes into injury time when Andrew Whorns equalised. Incredibly there was still time for a winner. Gabbidon shrugged off his man drilled a cross to Richie Smith and he took SCR through.
