The Row March On

Hartley Wintney Continue to Fly the Flag for the League

A brace each from Sam Argent and Ross Cook gave Hartley Wintney an impressive FA Cup replay win last night at Southern League Fleet Town, by four goals to nil.

Their prize is a trip to Merthyr Town, currently 15th in the Premier Division of the Southern League, on Saturday 13 October. This is the second time in three seasons that The Row have been the League’s final FA Cup survivors, as they went as far as the 4th and final Qualifying Round previously before finally bowing out against Daventry Town, who then played Chesterfield in the 1st Round Proper.

The League’s Premier Challenge Cup continued last night with three more 1st Round matches. Horley Town enjoyed what sounds a comfortable evening at home to Division One Staines Lammas, winning 4-1 but Bedfont Sports were surprised by Div One newcomers Abbey Rangers who won 3-1. The other tie saw the most exciting tie as Colliers Wood United, last season’s defeated finalists, get the better of Windsor FC winning by five goals to four, including a hatrick from Dan Harding.
