Two of our Clubs Reached the 3rd Qualifying Round

Bedfont Sports and Camberley put up a fight

The FA Youth Cup receives little publicity, certainly in the qualifying stages, but it is worthy of note that two of our clubs, Bedfont Sports and Camberley Town, came close to reaching the 1st Round Proper, in which they would have been facing opposition from the Football League.

Sadly they both exited the competition earlier this week after a good run through to the 3rd Qualifying Round. Camberley found themselves entertaining Dover Athletic U18 and came back from two down to score twice in the last fifteen minutes to take the tie to extra-time. The Conference side’s youth team finally made it pay though with two goals to win the match 4-2.

Bedfont Sports had a difficult trip to AFC Hornchurch but obviously put up a good fight losing to the only goal scored in the match.

The FA Youth Cup can throw up some fantastic matches sometimes involving non-league clubs and just two examples from the past include Chipstead having to go up to Carlisle and Wealdstone playing at Anfield.
