Combined Counties League Officers

It is with regret that the league announce that Alan Constable (pictured) has decided that after thirteen years in the role he will stand down as League General Secretary. He will continue to be the League Fixtures Secretary and concentrate on this area which takes more and more time to maintain. Alan first joined the league in 1996 (27 years ago) as Fixtures Secretary and took on the role of General Secretary in 2010, when Les Pharo stepped down to take the role of Chairman at Surrey FA. You will all know Alan and his knowledge of the rules and operation of football at this level. His contribution has been significant to the success of the League.

We will also be losing our Fines Secretary, Roger Wells at the end of the season. Roger has performed the role since 2017 doing an excellent job. A role where most clubs do not want to hear from Roger as it is generally bad news. However, a very important role for the league. Roger is also the match officials appointments officer on the Isthmian League U18s divisions. This is taking much of his time so he is standing back from the fines role.

Due to an impossible workload, having his job and his bosses job, and family commitments meaning constant travel up and down the length of the country, Paul Blair is stepping down as the League Vice Chairman and Welfare Officer. Paul was initially a club representative on the league management committee before taking on the role of Chartered Standard Co-ordinator in 2014. In 2017 he took over as League Welfare Officer and in 2018 became Vice Chairman and a member of the board of directors. Paul has indicated that when his life returns to normal he would like to return to the league in some capacity. In the mean time we wish Paul well with all of his troubles.

In line with these announcements, the league is now advertising for replacement volunteers for these roles. However, we have also looked at how me manage the competition and how the workload has changed in recent years. There are also a few new opportunities that we wish to explore to enhance the league operation going forward.
