Emirates FA Cup Preview

13 clubs will battle it out on Saturday

The CCL has 13 clubs competing in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup on Saturday. There are no all-CCL ties.

Some of our clubs face tough ties, not least the very local derby at Chertsey Town against Abbey Rangers, which is a 400 all-ticket sell out. Badshot Lea also have a local game and will be entertaining Bracknell Town, whilst an all-Middlesex tie sees Spelthorne Sports going round the airport to Hanwell Town.

Camberley Town go down south, to the Portsmouth area, to meet Moneyfields. Tip for that one is to get there early if you want a parking space. If you don’t you will find that space around the housing estate where the ground is situated is at a premium.

Frimley Green find themselves travelling to ex-CCL club Westfield, under new management this season, whilst our only Division One side left in the competition (there weren’t many in the first place), Westside, are at home to Chatham Town, now of the Southern Counties East League. It’s tenants against landlords at Ashford Town in what looks a very close encounter against Southall, whilst just down the road Staines Town play host to Guildford City. Egham are also at home to Crawley Down Gatwick so there’s a considerable choice for groundhoppers in that part of the world.

The other ties see Cobham at home to Three Bridges, CB Hounslow on the road, away at Sevenoaks Town, SCR at home to Broadfields United and Hanworth Villa also going south to meet Steyning Town and Community, also ex-members of the CCL, back in the 90’s. They were just Steyning Town then.

There are four Premier Division matches as well and a fairly full programme in Division One.

All the fixtures can be found in the match information section of the web site and if you need a football fix tonight (Friday), Jersey Bulls return to the Orchard for the second week in a row, this time to play against British Airways where kick-off is 7.45 p.m.
