Extraordinary Scorelines

AFC Hayes hit nine!

We've had what might be described as some unpredictable scorelines over the last week or so, starting last Tuesday when Ascot United knocked seven goals past Abbey in an FA Vase Replay. This was after two very recent close matches between the same two clubs, with the league match ending in a close win for Ascot and then the first Vase match which finished two apiece after extra time, with barely a fag paper between the teams overall.

Fast forward to Wednesday evening as Deportivo took on AFC Hayes in an all Middlesex encounter in the Cherry Red Records Premier Cup. It must be a long time since AFC hayes have scored nine goals in a match and they have certainly not done it in the CCL but on this occasion they cracked in nine goals against their opponents and conceding two. Yasha Najafi (pictured)took the "Man of the Match" award with four goals.

To be fair it did not take too long for Deportivo to bounce back as they scored four themselves on Saturday in a 4-1 win over Fleet Spurs, and yet just two weeks ago Fleet had enjoyed a 5-1 win away at AFC Hayes.

Such is the glorious unpredictability of football!
