Ceri Jones goes upstairs: Adam Bessant takes over as 1st Team Manager

Ceri Jones (pictured) has decided to step down as First Team Manager with immediate effect, to take on the role of Director of Football.

During his 7 years at the helm, he has overseen the rapid rise of the team from Step 7 to Step 5 and switching from Hellenic to Combined Counties Leagues. The highlights being back-to-back league titles and promotions in 2016-17 and 2017-18, and the League Cup in 2017.

It will most certainly not bring his time at the Waters to an end, as the Club continues to expand, and steadily move towards the approval of a new ground in the locality.

Prior to joining VW, Ceri started out as a team manager at one of many Ascot Utd junior sides, before progressing through the age groups to U18 level. In 2015 he was approached to join the ranks at VWFC, and helped build a new structure with Dave McBride as Chairman and close friend Graham Poulter (now so sadly missed) as Secretary.

The three formed a formidable bond at VW, and the rest as they say, is history. The revised structure currently sees Adam Bessent take over as First Team Manager, assisted by brother Jake Bessent, and coaches Brian Joseph, Dave Atkins and Matt Holliday.

Ceri would like to thank all those players and staff for their hard work and loyalty, and hopes this will continue in the next Chapter.
