As at 9.30 p.m. on Monday evening, 36 out of 41 clubs had responded to the questionnaire sent out by the Chairman, prior to his telephone conference today with the FA and other Step 5/6 leagues.
This was the response received:
Option 1 – RESUME WHEN POSSIBLE
11 votes
Option 2 – DECLARE SEASON 2019-2020 NULL AND VOID
10 votes
Option 3 – FREEZE SEASON AND DECLARE CURRENT POSITIONS AS FINAL
4 votes
Option 4 -FREEZE SEASON ANS COMPLETE TABLE ON A POINTS PER GAME BASIS
11 votes
There is no clear winner but it is clear that Option 3 is not favoured to any extent. Various other points were made by clubs, one being that everyone wants FA competitions to go ahead, especially the FA Vase.
There was also a suggestion that when we resume playing, it should be until all clubs had played a certain percentage of their matches for the current season, say 80-90% and then use ppg, whilst a suggestion received from an outside source suggested that we merge 2019-2020 with season 20-21 and then at the end of season 20-21 we would have one composite league table with clubs having played 76 matches (Div 1) or 80 matches (Prem).
It was clear that some clubs understandably voted with their own current position in mind but even if those cases were removed, there is still no clear way forward at present.
As soon as there is any news arising from today’s remote conference, it will be placed on the website.
