Flackwell Heath win the Cherry Red Records Premier Cup

Seven goals in an topsy-turvy match

An entertaining match ensued on Bank Holiday Monday as two Premier Division North clubs metin the Final of the Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup met in the Final at Windsor FC.

There will be a full report shortly, courtesy of MCFA stalwart, Jim Taylor but to summarise, North Greenford made a stunning start, going 2 goals up in the opening ten minutes or so.

As the game went on, it became more even with chances at either end. It was though Flackwell who pulled one back and then another to equalise. Greenford were still very much in the game but one sensed that Flackwell had something in reserve. Greenford's cause was not helped when one of their players received a caution for a wild tackle that the Flackwell defender just about evaded. Having been booked, he then went and did it again within a few minutes leaving the referee with little option but to issue another yellow card, and thus a red, putting NGU down to ten men.

It was now mostly Flackwell and they emphasised the superiority they had taken, scoring a further 3 goals to make the final result 5-2 in their favour, which one would not have thought possible after Greenford's whirlwind start.

This is only a summary with a full report to come soon.

We thank Cherry Red Records for their ongoing support. They were with us this afternoon with owner Ian McNay on hand to lead the presentations and we can report that we have renewed our sponsorship agreement with them today for next season, which is good news.

We also thank Windsor FC for hosting the final in their normal efficient manor.
