It's FA Cup Time Already

20 ties involving CCL clubs

The FA Cup comes round early, too early really for clubs at our level, and it all starts this weekend with 20 ties in the Extra-Preliminary Round involving one (or two) CCL clubs. Sadly, and as a result of ongoing re-structuring only four of those ties involve any Step 6 CCL clubs, which is a great shame.

It is a huge step for any club when you play in the FA Cup for the first time and it is a valid view that if you are good enough to play in the National League System with all its rules and regulations, you should be allowed to enter and play in the FA Cup.

Next season there could be no involvement from Step 6 due to ongoing restructuring but hopefully it is coming under consideration at the FA to change the present structure of the FA Cup so as to allow as many Step 6 clubs in as possible.

It is too early in the season for realistic predictions but we wish good luck to every CCL club setting off in this great competition. All we can say for certain is that there will be at least five of our clubs getting through to the next round, because they are playing fellow CCL clubs.

Once we know who is involved and who isn’t in the next round, additional league matches will be arranged on Saturday 24 August wherever possible and these will show in Monday’s bulletin.
