AGM Postponed

Following a remote Board Meeting on 3 June, please note that the League AGM, scheduled for Saturday 27 June, has been POSTPONED for the time being, the main reason being that we have no information relating to next season in terms of the constitution, FA rule changes and so on. It will be reconvened as soon as possible.

There is very little to report to clubs at the moment but the FA has now invited League Chairmen and Secretaries to take part in a remote meeting for Friday 19 June specifically for the Step 5/6 Leagues, so we will hopefully have more information after that for clubs.

In the meantime, at the Board Meeting, it was agreed that clubs will receive a significant discount upon all affiliation fees for next season. Full details will be announced in due course and clubs will have a longer period than usual to make payment. It can be confirmed that affiliation to our Under-18 and U23 Development divisions next season will be entirely free of charge for both new and existing teams.

Those clubs who played in the unfinished Women’s Cup last season will also be allowed free entry into the new season’s cup. Any new entrants will be charged £25.

Once we know the constitution for next season, we can hopefully then move matters on and it is at that point that clubs will receive their affiliation forms for next season. There are already vacancies at higher levels and in other leagues at Steps 5/6 but whether they will be filled by the FA we have to wait and see and indeed whether they will impinge upon the CCL.

There are some new ground sharing situations, two of which could lead to clubs leaving the League. Balham are moving in to ground share at AFC Croydon Athletic who play in the Southern Counties East League whilst Kensington & Ealing Borough will be playing at Hanwell Town. It is by no means certain that either club will be lost to the CCL but in recent times, certainly for fixture purposes the FA has generally avoided the situation of two clubs sharing the same ground at the same level playing in different leagues. In Kensington’s case, whilst Hanwell play at Step 4, they are right on the edge of our area and so a move back to the Spartan S. Midlands League for Kensington may be on the cards.

Westside have also swapped grounds moving from Chessington & Hook to Colliers Wood next season following Balham’s departure.

There has been some news from clubs, mostly relating to managerial changes. In no particular order, LukeTurkington has left Farnham Town, who were on the verge of promotion, and joined Alresford Town. Luke Tuffs has left Knaphill after a successful first season and has since been appointed manager of Ashford Town (Mx). He has been replaced at Knaphill by a joint management team, namely Jamie Daltrey and John Cook, both arriving from Frimley Green. Frimley, in turn, have appointed Nick Thumwood and Callum Nimmo, as their new joint management duo, supplemented by Ian Savage as 1st Team coach.

In Division One, Tooting Bec have appointed Bryan Nzinga as their new manager and he will be joined by George Busumbru who had taken Walton & Hersham to 3rd place in the table and on course for promotion. The new manager at the Swans is Scott Harris in his first managerial appointment.

All we want now is to play some football once it is deemed safe.
