Premier Division

Four of the nine games scheduled for Saturday were postponed because of waterlogged pitches. In those that remained, Ascot United failed to make up ground on leaders Spelthorne Sports, who didn’t play. The Yellamen lost by the odd goal in five at home to Knaphill, whose unbeaten league run stands at eight games. The Knappers now lie in sixth position.

One position higher, in fifth place, are newly promoted Frimley Green, who extended their winning run to four games with a 3-0 home win against Sheerwater, a team that came up from Division 1 with them.

After five successive league defeats, Hanworth Villa gained a welcome 2-0 victory at Molesey. It wasn’t enough to lift them from the bottom of the table, but they’re now only one point behind local rivals CB Hounslow United and they have three games in hand.

Both Tuesday’s games were postponed, including the top-of-the-table clash between Spelthorne and Ascot.

Division 1

Runaway leaders Jersey Bulls retained their 100% record with a 2-0 home win against Godalming Town, though they left it late with both goals coming in the last 10 minutes.

Meanwhile Bedfont & Feltham moved into second place with an emphatic whitewash of Epsom & Ewell for their fifth consecutive victory. Leading scorer Mike Capon notched three of their five goals. However, their closest challenger for second spot in the table, Farnham Town, have the same number of points and two games in hand. Tooting Bec are one point further back with one game in hand of the Yellows.

Another side on a good run of form are Bagshot, who beat Kensington & Ealing Borough 2-0 on Saturday. Both goals came before half-time. They continued their excellent run on Tuesday with another home win, 1-0 against high-flying Farnham Town for their fifth successive victory.

Fleet Spurs’ three-game winning run came to an end at local rivals Cove, who scored both their goals in the first ten minutes. Spurs’ only reply was a goal just before full-time.

The most eventful match of the week was between Deportivo Galicia and Sandhurst Town. Depor went into a 4-0 lead, but the Fizzers pulled the score back to 4-3 at the end of normal time, despite missing two penalties, though they did score one. That wasn’t the end: in the 97th minute, right back Joe Barley equalised for the visitors. 4-4 – phew!
