To complete a good week for the League in the FA Vase, Banstead Athletic emerged victors in their replay at Seven Acre & Sidcup FC on Wednesday evening, despite falling behind on ten minutes to a goal from Seven Acre’s Josh Patrick.
The “A”s bounced back well though and equalised through Sean Bradley on 26 minutes and were ahead around ten minutes later when Matt Robinson scored.
There were no further goals in the second period so the 2-1 victory has seen Banstead through to a 2nd Qualifying Round match at home to Cray Valley (PM), from the South Eastern Combination, on Saturday 3 October.
They have some way to go through to emulate their best ever performance in the Vase back in the 96-97 season when they went as far as the Semi-Final, losing just 1-2 on aggregate to Whitby Town.
Banstead’s win brings the total number of CCL clubs competing in the 2nd Qualifying Round to eighteen, with another four to enter the competition at a later stage.
