It's a momentous day on Sunday, not only for Vase finalists Chertsey Town but everyone in the CCL as we celebrate the first appearance in an FA Vase Final by a CCL club for many years, going back to the very first Final in fact when Epsom & Ewell played Hoddesdon Town.
Southall also rreached the Final some years after that but they were not a CCL club at the time.
It's chapions v champions on Sunday with Chertsey coming up against Cray Valley (PM)who won the Southern Counties East Championship and, like Chertsey, will be playing at Step 4 next season, with both clubs likely to be placed in the Bostik League.
It is likely to be a close encounter but Chertsey will be buoyed by having sold over 5000 tikets for the Final and the League sends its best wishes to manager Dave Anderson and his players, one of whom is John Pomroy, who has spent most of his playing career with the Curfews, and is their top scorer of all time. For any player showing that kind of loyalty, being involved in an FA Vase Final appearance is a fitting tribute.
