Dorking FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Danny Fox as the new first team manager.

Danny joins the club with a brief to take the Chicks forward by developing an exciting, representative young team as the town's historic club continues rebuilding.

At just 30 years old, Danny breaks the mould for most football managers and is highly regarded as one of the most exciting and progressive young coaches in Surrey. His coaching and managerial experience includes spells at Maidenhead United, Bracknell Town, Burnham, Sheerwater FC and Dorking's recent cup final opponents Molesey FC, giving him extensive knowledge of non-league football, both at Dorking's current level and substantially higher. Most recently, Danny has been working for Premier League club Crystal Palace, overseeing their scouting teams in Surrey and Sussex.

Having been forced into retirement by injury aged 19, Danny transferred his passion for playing to management, becoming an avid student of the game and its coaching methods. His ability to help footballers develop to the best of their ability is demonstrated by a number of players he has coached going on to successful full-time careers with professional clubs, and also at international level.

Dorking FC Director Roger Mahony led the recruitment process and says, "Our search for a new manager to really take the club forward has been extensive and we are very fortunate to have Danny take on the role. He is passionate about football and our vision for revitalising Dorking FC, and totally understands our aim to move forward with traditional amateur values but modern, professional standards.

"He has a meticulous attention to detail, enormous knowledge of football at this level and the most modern, professional approach to coaching, ensuring players at Dorking FC will have the best possible opportunity to develop and maximise their potential. His record speaks for itself."

Dorking FC will be Danny Fox's first appointment as a first team manager.

"Dorking FC is about creating opportunity and Danny more than deserves his first job as a Manager," says Roger Mahony. "Everyone who has worked with him is full of praise for his coaching ability and dedication. He's been successful everywhere he's been and, once we met him, there was no doubt he was a perfect fit for our club's aims and values. It's an exciting time for Dorking."

Danny says, "The outlook and values of the club, not just for young players but for local football as a whole, matches my own entirely and so the opportunity to be a part of this project is one I am very much looking forward to. I’ve patiently waited for the right job to come along before committing myself to the role of manager at a non-league club and feel the wait has been worth it. I’m eager to get started."

With plans to start pre-season training at the end of June, the next few weeks promise to be busy ones as Danny gets to know existing players, youth team coaches, other staff and volunteers as he looks to build his team.

He is promising an innovative and rigorous approach, as the 136 year-old club looks to continue its progress following the rescue from closure in 2013. After two years' enforced ground sharing in Horley, Danny will lead the team back to Dorking in August, playing home games at Dorking Wanderers' Westhumble ground before returning home to a new stadium at Meadowbank the following season.
