AC London

AC London were charged with a breach of rule 6.9 (ineligible player) having played a suspended player in two matches at the start of the season, against Farleigh Rovers and Dorking. The suspension involved a player who had still to complete a ban incurred in the previous season when the club was playing in the Kent Invicta League. The offence was admitted and the six points gained in the two games have now been deducted and are reflected in the official league table. It was accepted that the offence was a genuine error and not an attempt to deceive.

The outcome of the abandoned RPM Records Division One Cup tie between Banstead Athletic and AC London has still to be resolved. Although the club and an individual connected with AC London were charged with an offence and found guilty by Surrey County FA, the club has indicated its intention to appeal to the Football Association concerning these decisions, as is their right. The League will rule upon the abandonment as soon as the matter is finally resolved.

AC London appeared before the Management Committee on Monday 14 November 2016, following various other general concerns. The attitude of the club was positive and they made the point that possibly their reputation had gone before them, and that they were a very young club with a lot to learn at this level.

Following the departure of the club’s representatives, the situation was fully discussed and it was agreed that AC London would be made subject to the requirements of rule 2.18, which in laymen’s language requires the club to pull its socks up, failing which a recommendation could be made that they are not included in the constitution next season. This decision, which does not involve any fines in itself and does not impact upon any other club, will hopefully allow the club time to make the necessary adjustments so as to ensure they are not in this situation again.
