Redhill Going Home, Sports Going Away for a while

New pitches at both Redhill and Bedfont Sports

There is ground news from two of our clubs as we go into the first round of matches in October 2016. On the one hand, Redhill return to playing at their own ground tomorrow following an extensive refurbishment to their pitch which started in the summer.

Redhill had met up with the League Management Committee at the end of last season being one of a considerable number of clubs to have lost a considerable number of games due to waterlogging. Without any prompting though, the club had already decided upon a drastic course of action to combat the problems and a brand new pitch is the outcome, which will be graced for the first time by Redhill and AC London tomorrow, kick-off 3.00 p.m. Members of the Ground Inspection Committee visited Redhill last week and were impressed with what they saw.

On the other hand Bedfont Sports will soon be vacating their ground temporarily as they become the first club in the League to play on their own 3G pitch in recent seasons. The work is scheduled to start on 1 November and should be completed around Christmas although the club has agreed with the League that the target date for returning home will be 7 January.

With the authorities insisting that the work be done at this time, rather than wait for the close season, Bedfont’s Terry Reader has been busy re-arranging matches, switching where they can and he will probably be the most relieved man of the lot when the new facilities are ready for use.

The League would like to thank fellow clubs for helping with re-arranging matches where necessary when contacted by either Redhill or Bedfont Sports.
