Westfield consolidate their position, SCR first club into Prem Cup sf and Farnham into sf of Aldershot Senior Cup

In midweek this week, Sutton Common Rovers became the first side to make it into the semi-final of the Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup with a hard fought 2-1 win over Division One Cobham on Monday evening.

On Tuesday evening, just two league matches took place, with AFC Hayes being off again, and in the game, between the top two, it was visitors and league leaders Westfield who came out on top, wining 5-0 at 2nd placed Bedfont Sports. One would have expected a far closer result but sometimes matters just don’t go your way and Bedfont found themselves reduced to nine men before half-time, with two having been sent off and they were already three down at that stage. The result doesn’t seal the championship but clearly it was a massive stride forward for Westfield.

In the other match, Epsom & Ewell managed a 1-1 home draw against Abbey Rangers but they still have a mountain to climb if they are to get away from bottom place.

In cup matches, Spelthorne Sports departed the Surrey Senior Cup, losing 0-4 at home to Bostick League South Park, but Farnham Town became the first side into the semi-finals of the Aldershot Senior Cup with an astonishing 8-2 win, after extra time, at Division One club Bagshot.
