Sad News From Bedfont & Feltham FC

Bedfont & Feltham Football Club are saddened to report that club stalwart Jim Tate has passed away

Jim was originally with Hounslow FC and was amongst other things their social secretary prior to their merger with Feltham FC back in 1991 to form what was then Feltham & Hounslow Borough FC. I recall that one of his regular bookings for the Denbigh Road clubhouse hall was a local Country & Western act.

Over the years, the club went back to the name of Feltham FC but Jim was one of the few who stayed on, and was often seen on the gate at home matches. He also made the players' post-match sandwiches! Jim stayed with the club through thick and thin and even managed to enrol his brother in Cyprus to sponsor a match every now and then under the guise of the Feltham FC 'Cyprus Branch'.

Jim's loyalty was recognised by the club as he was made an Honorary Life Member and he carried on supporting the club including keeping an eye on the gate following the formation of Bedfont & Feltham FC in 2012.

Over the past couple of years, Jim's health had become poor but he still kept as active as possible and made as many visits to watch the lads as he could manage. He proudly presented the team with the Middlesex Premier Cup in 2013.
Jim and his wife Trudie celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last September and received a telegram from the Queen to mark the occasion.

Jim will be sadly missed by everyone involved with the club over the years. Details of his funeral will be announced in due course.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Trudie and Jim's family at this sad time.

Rest In Peace.
