There was a full fixture list on Saturday 13 August, the official opening day of the season in the CCL, even though there had been a few matches previously.

The 11 Premier Division matches produced 38 goals, the top scorers being Guildford City, who won 4-2 at promoted Abbey Rangers, with Perry Coles scoring 3 of them. This match also produced the highest aggregate of goals with Abbey’s 2 making it 6 in the game.

Champions Hartley Wintney are back in a familiar place at the top of the League, having won their two opening matches, although newly promoted CB Hounslow put up a tough fight, only conceding two late goals, to go down 1-3. Bedfont & Feltham ensured it was not a good day for any of the promoted clubs as they suffered a 0-3 defeat at home to Westfield. There are very few scoreless draws but we had one on Saturday with Walton & Hersham dipping their toes in the CCL for the first time and ending up with a point at home to Spelthorne Sports.

Highest attendance of the day was at Windsor, where 202 spectators saw the home club score a late late goal to send Epsom & Ewell home pointless.

In Division One, where 0-0 draws are even rarer, new boys AC London drew by that score line at Staines Lammas but the other new clubs to the League, Bagshot and Balham both lost to Banstead (0-2) and Sheerwater (2-3).

The top scorers were Cobham who stormed to the top of the fledgling table with a 6-1 home win over Cove, with Kieran Campbell hitting 4 of them. The other two relegated sides both won, Chessington & Hook with a 3-1 win at home to Ash United and Redhill with a hard fought 2-0 victory at Frimley Green.

Last year’s basement boys Epsom Athletic got off to a good start this time round with a 2-1 win at South Park Reserves.
The top scorers were Cobham with 6 and the game also saw the top aggregate of goals with Cove’s 1 making it 7. The highest attendance was at Chessington where 68 were in attendance.

There is a full Premier Division programme this coming midweek, starting on Monday evening when Sutton Common Rovers host Horley Town at Sutton United, followed by 8 matches on Tuesday evening and 2 on Wednesday, including Bedfont Sports taking on local rivals Hanworth Villa. Sports are experimenting with Wednesday evening fixtures this season. On the same evening Colliers Wood will be looking for their first league win but it won’t be easy as they entertain early leaders Hartley Wintney.

There are also 7 matches in Division One, all of them local affairs.

All the fixtures can be viewed on the Fixtures page of the web site.
