7 matches lost to the weather

There were numerous postponements on Saturday 16 December for the first time this season, with five matches being lost in the Premier Division and just two in Division One.

Six matches went ahead in the Premier Division and there was a sting in the tail for Sutton Common Rovers in the Premier Division “match of the day” as Bedfont Sports came from behind in the last five minutes, scoring twice to turn a 1-2 deficit into a 3-2 vistory. It meant all three points for Bedfont who are now within three points of leaders Westfield, albeit that Westfield have matches in hand. Westfield’s own match away at CB Hounslow was a victim of the weather.

Walton & Hersham also lost a little ground as they were only able to draw at home to Camberley with the scorers untroubled in a nil-nil draw.

In Division One, the “big” clash was at Cobham who entertained league leaders Worcester Park, whose Mark Waters scored the only goal of the game on 76 minutes, to see Worcester Park open up a 9 point gap over second placed Sheerwater who were only able to draw at bottom club Bedfont & Feltham.

Badshot Lea maintained their ever growing challenge with a 5-1 win over Deportivo Galicia, as did Staines Lammas who won 4-1 at Fleet Spurs. Raynes Park Vale are another side “in the mix” and they also won again achieving a narrow 2-1 win over AC London
