Congraulations to Liam Holden, Sutton Common Rovers

300 appearances behind him and still in his 20's

The League sends its congratulations to midfielder Liam Holden who, yesterday evening, made his 300th appearance for Sutton Common Rovers and celebrated by scoring the opening goal in a 5-1 victory over Camberley in the Surrey Senior Cup. He has also had spells with both Walton Casuals and Banstead Athletic.

His manager Darren Salmon has paid this fulsome tribute:

"I am extremely proud and privileged to be writing this short testimonial in recognition to the loyalty and tremendous efforts show by Liam, to SCR football club and myself over the past 10 + seasons.

Over 60% of the matches I have managed have featured Liam since we first got him as an exciting and highly versatile 16 year old. He has played in all positions I think, although not sure about keeper… yet!

Liam fully deserves this recognition today and has show outstanding commitment not just on the pitch with his 300 appearances, but he has also helped with building projects, fence erection, painting etc at River lane and also at Cobham. Additionally his personal companies have sponsored teams during my tenure.

Liam should now be in his prime and even though he and I are well known to have the occasional “heated discussion” I for one hope he makes the next milestones of 400 and even 500 games as that would put the icing on a cake for a fantastic club career and give Liam the recognition that commitment deserves."
