Nine clubs win in FA Vase with three to replay

Nine CCL clubs were successful in making it through the 1st Qualifying Round of the Buildbase FA Vase over the weekend, with a further three clubs, Chessington & Hook, Spelthorne Sports and North Greenford United facing replays this midweek.

Please note incidentally that the replay at Rochester United against Chessington & Hook has been put back to Wednesday evening, kick-off 7.45 p.m.

Amongst the nine who went through were Division One, Ash United who beat Tytherington Rocks from Gloucestershire by 2 goals to 1, whilst in the all-CCL ties there were emphatic wins for both Badshot Lea, 3-1 at home to Farnham, and Bedfont Sports, who beat local rivals Hanworth Villa for the first time ever, by 4 goals to nil.

Horley Town saw off Sussex opposition in the shape of Hassocks by 4 goals to 2 and don’t seem to be missing last year’s top striker Ashley Nadesan too much but Colliers Wood United will have been disappointed to go out following a late goal from Bridon Ropes FC.

There were just three Premier Division matches and after the recent goal gluts there were just 5 goals scored. Three of them came from champions Hartley Wintney who beat Knaphill 3-1. Epsom & Ewell and Camberley Town fought out a dour nil-nil, whilst Walton & Hersham, still unbeaten, took all three points with a 1-0 victory over Sutton Common Rovers.

Results in Division One continue to surprise, especially the margin of Balham’s home win over Eversley & California by 7 goals to 1. AC London, still unbeaten, won 5-1 at fellow newcomers Bagshot, who themselves had won their previous three. Sheerwater took another three points and find themselves in 2nd place, despite a negative goal difference.

There are 15 different matches this midweek involving CCL clubs, all of which can be found on the fixtures page.
