3 Clubs through in FA Cup, at least 2 more to come from this week's replays

17 CCL clubs took part in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup last weekend but just three made it through to the Preliminary Round to be played on Saturday 3 September. 6 though are involved in replays, including 2 all CCL matches, so there will be a minimum of 5 of our clubs involved in the 1st Qualifying Round. This is one better than last season.

Two of our clubs beat opposition from higher levels, namely North Greenford United, where last goals gave them a resounding 4-1 victory over Kidlington FC, from the Central Division of the Evostick League South, and CB Hounslow United who overcame Petersfield Town from the same Division 2-1.

Two more CCL clubs drew at higher league opposition, namely Camberley Town at Bishops Cleeve, and Walton & Hersham at Greenwich Borough, so they will have some optimism for Tuesday’s replays.

Both Banstead Athletic and Chessington & Hook kept the Division One flag flying and they are involved in replays this week against fellow CCL clubs from the Premier Division, with Banstead going to Colliers Wood on Wednesday and Chessington playing at home to Guildford City on Tuesday.

In the League we had already had a scoreline at Epsom & Ewell that few would have predicted, with CB Hounslow travelling to Chipstead and beating the Salts by 5 goals to 1. On Saturday, albeit a less impressive scoreline, Bedfont & Feltham came from 2 goals behind to defeat champions Hartley Wintney by 3 goals to 2. Such results suggest that the League is going to be as highly competitive as ever, with all three promoted clubs now off the mark and the two relegated clubs also doing well.
In the only other Premier Division match, Windsor took a two goal lead at Raynes Park Vale, only to be pegged back at two apiece before a late winner gave them all three points.

There were 7 matches in Division One, with early front runners AC London and Staines Lammas recording big wins over Dorking and South Park Reserves. AC London, in particular have now hit 13 goals in two matches and have yet to concede this season. Of the other new clubs, both took points with Balham drawing at home to Ash United, thanks to a very late goal, whilst Bagshot recorded their first win, 2-1, at Epsom Athletic.
